Tax Deadline Extended for Select California Counties, Including Orange County

Tax season can be a stressful time for many Orange County residents, and this year’s tax season comes with added challenges due to the recent winter storms that hit California. However, there is some good news for taxpayers in Orange County: the state of California has announced an extension for those affected by the storms.

Governor Gavin Newsom declared on March 2nd that taxpayers impacted by the winter storms in select California counties, including Orange County, will have additional time to file both their state and federal taxes. This extension applies to individuals and businesses in the affected counties, including Orange County, who have tax filings due between December 1st, 2022, and May 31st, 2023. Taxpayers in these counties will have until October 16th, 2023, to file their taxes without incurring penalties or interest.
